From June 24 to 27, 2025, the French-German Terahertz Conference (FGTC) took place at ZESS/University of Siegen. FGTC is a significant forum for international exchange on terahertz technologies and research. The conference brought together leading scientists, young talents, and industry representatives from various countries.

The FGTC 2025 was characterized by remarkable international participation. A particular highlight was the involvement of female scientists: 17 of the submitted contributions were presented by female researchers.

Special attention was given to Pascale Roy’s contribution A new IR/THz beamline on SOLEIL-II: Design and scientific programme as well as Juliette Mangeney’s Two-Level System in Graphene Quantum Dots and Tamm Resonators for THz Quantum Technology.

Plenary Speakers were Patrick Mounaix (Université de Bordeaux) and Vincent Wallace (University of Western Australia, Perth).

Vincent Wallace also happens to be a Mercator Fellow at DFG Research Unit Learning to Sense. Therefore he extended his stay at Siegen after the conference and was available for inspiring group- and one-on-one-discussions and also gave valuable insights into THz for the interdisciplinary group during his talk Terahertz spectroscopy and imaging, data processing and analysis.
