The ZESS Transfer Hub supports transfer activities of ZESS members and serves as a contact point for external parties, both academic and industrial, interested in research transfer. We offer to provide contacts and expertise in the areas of industry-academic partnerships, IP-related activities and prospective start-ups.
Industry-academic partnerships
ZESS members have strong industrial contacts with over 60 companies on the regional, national and international level, both to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and global firms. We offer to serve as a contact point to establish connections between university researchers and industrial partners, e.g.
for researchers:
- the preparation of joint research proposals requiring industrial participation,
- the organization of conferences, workshops and other joint academic-industry events,
- the identification of possible use cases of novel technological developments.
for companies
- the identification of suitable academic technical research and development partners,
- the identification of expertise in the areas of expertise of ZESS,
- the inclusion in our list of partner organizations.
IP-related activities
ZESS members are experienced in IP-related activities. They currently hold more than 60 patents in different technological areas, many of them licensed to partners. The ZESS Transfer Hub offers to establish contacts to our staff, e.g. to
- provide counseling for invention disclosures, patent applications, and patent strategies,
- provide help for the evaluation of the potential of an IP,
- establish contacts to potentially interested industry partners for an invention.
Support for Company Formation/Start-Ups
ZESS members have successfully founded start-up companies. Through the ZESS Transfer Hub, we aim at helping interested potential founders to navigate the process, e.g. by
- counseling for startup-formation and support programs,
- advice on grant applications by experts who have been successful (BMWE Exist, EIC Acellerator, …)
- mentoring for aspiring founders.
