93 Bildverarbeitungsforum “Learning to Sense”
The 93 Heidelberger Bildverarbeitungsforum is hosted for the second time by the DFG Research Unit “Learning to Sense”. In November 2024 Siegen organised the 88 edition on AI for Image Sonsors, this time the group of Prof Margret Keuper at University of Mannheim organises the Bildverarbeitungsforum on the heart of the matter of the research unit, focusing on two key aspects:
Date: Tue 7 Jul 2026

- Firstly, machine learning methods relate not only to image processing itself, but also to image capture – from lighting and optical components right through to the selection and characteristics of image sensors. What can AI methods contribute here, both today and in the foreseeable future?
- Secondly, thanks to the further development of hardware architectures and methods, more and more aspects of machine learning can be carried out directly within smart cameras. Which advances in this field can already be successfully applied in industrial practice today?
Both aspects will be addressed in coordinated presentations at the 93rd Heidelberg Image Processing Forum.
